![]() This is one of the greatest RTS games ever made, and the kind of awesomely gritty high fantasy storytelling that put Blizzard on the map long before online multiplayer was the norm. Still, while Blizzard's actions are disappointing for longtime and multiplayer fans, they won't have a lot of bearing on the experience of those looking to play the stories of Warcraft III for the first time, or lapsed players who haven't set foot in this particular version of Azeroth for more than a decade. #Warcraft 3 reforged review OfflineThe original game, like Reforged, now lacks features including LAN and offline play as well as competitive ladders, meaning those elements have been taken from people who've had them for years, even if they have no interest in Reforged. ![]() ![]() The move was designed to allow owners of both to play with each other, Blizzard says, but it has come with some severe side effects. Worse, the original Warcraft III has been moved into the same launcher as this new one. The changes to the visuals and design don't go as far as the company had originally promised, especially when it comes to the cutscenes which were supposed to be newly animated. Pros Preserves the best parts of original game Added accessibility in campaign Custom maps still shine Detailed new. ![]() It's worth noting that many of Blizzard's (and Warcraft III's) biggest fans are not at all happy with this remaster. Warcraft III: Reforged is a much-needed remaster that's not quite complete. A visual overhaul replaces the blocky and cartoonish units with more gritty and up-to-date designs, while the environments look ultra sharp compared to the original, but the level geometry and old-school realtime cutscenes make it clear this is an early 2000s game. Included here is both Reign of Chaos and the Frozen Throne expansion, meaning seven brilliant fantasy campaigns filled with big story twists, epic battles and a lot of different characters and heroes to become familiar with. ![]()
